Classical Gardens of Suzhou
On December 1st our grade 10’s students were honored to have a chance to listen to a speech given by professor Zhao . He gave us a brief introduction about the classical gardens of Suzhou.
The word garden comes from the Old Testament “Gen Eden”, which means an ideal place full of trees and flowers. Suzhou gardens are really charming! Wondering along the path, it offers comfortable spots in which to relax, chat and perhaps to take some refreshments or pen a poem. The feeling of release in the populated city and recall the countryside to commune with nature. The garden was not only delightful treats for the senses but also provide a wealth of information as to the history society values and reflecting of the philosophic concepts and ideologies of Confucianism, Buddhism and so on. The design of the garden made by different creators was also magnificent. Of all the gardens someone gave a visual comparison, the pulse of the garden is water the bones of the garden is stones. There are mainly four types of Chinese gardens, they are the imperial gardens, the private gardens the temple with gardens and the scenic gardens. The middle-rank and high rank architecture, the classical pavilion on the pond reflected back into the water looks so peaceful and elegant. The carve holes on the wall which is a piece of fine artwork that give us the feeling of obscuration.
The classical gardens of Suzhou are the peace in the populated city. The magnificent design, the combination of sense of romance and natural beauty and rich history background always remain a deep impression in my mind that I will certainly go there one day.
